BEN HARPER AND RELENTLESS7 SET TO RELEASE WHITE LIES FOR DARK TIMES ON MAY 5

TOUR DATES FOR U.S. AND ABROAD ANNOUNCED

PERFORMANCES ON LETTERMAN, KIMMEL, FALLON & CARSON DALY CONFIRMED

Coming off an incredible showing at this year’s SXSW including a headlining performance at Stubb’s, an over-capacity crowd at DirecTV’s “SXSW Live,” and a legendary taping of Austin City Limits, BEN HARPER AND RELENTELSS7 proudly announce the release of their debut record, White Lies For Dark Times on May 5 on Virgin Records.  The album will be available as CD, deluxe CD with bonus DVD, digital download and 180-gram 2xLP.  Rolling Stone calls the new album “an 11-song set soaked with hard rock and Delta Blues.”

Ben Harper and Relentless7’s energetic live performance is the heart of the band.  In December 2008, the band embarked on a highly successful short club tour with a handful of dates in California and New York. “The band’s combined force was almost too big for the room,” RollingStone.com said of the band’s intimate performance at Spaceland in Los Angeles.

The sweaty, gritty and energetic vibe of the clubs proved to be an incredible match for the band’s new hard-hitting sound, and they are pleased to announce their return to the road on a larger club tour of the U.S. as well as dates abroad.  “We thought, this is a new band, a new opportunity, a new energy.  Let’s earn it the way that new bands do…let’s play clubs, let’s play small places,” said drummer Jordan Richardson.   Current confirmed tour dates are listed below.

BHR7 will make an early late night television …

Los Angeles, CA – Sara Bareilles is scheduled to take up residency at Hotel Cafe for the next 3 days starting tomorrow night.  If you don’t already have tickets I sincerely apologize as these shows are sold out.  However, is playing a set as part of a bigger benefit show at One Splendid Evening on March 26th at the Port of Los Angeles on board Carnival’s Splendor ship.

Here is a clip of her performing last week Gravity . . .

She is definately worth seeing if you get the chance.  The first time I saw her in person was at the 11th Annual Music Preservation Project Music In Focus, a benefit honoring 3 great photographers of music.  Her song was a jazz-blues tune in honor of Herman Leonard by his request.  The crowd was blown away by the pure talent she displayed.  Treat yourself, you wont be disappointed.

De-evolution has finally arrived…and who better to guide us through the mess than DEVO.

What the iconic new wave, art punk pioneers cautioned us about almost 30 years ago is no longer a humorous theory. It’s pretty much fact–we now live in a devolved world that’s getting wackier each and every day.

The fall of 2009 will bring a new DEVO studio album, their first one since 1990’s Smooth Noodle Maps. It’ll mark their first new music since the strong fan reaction that greeted the 2007 single “Watch Us Work It,” their first new song in 18 years and one that was produced by Sweden’s TeddyBears (Robyn).  They’re now in the studio putting the finishing touches on their new album (title TBA).

The five-piece–featuring co-founders and songwriters MARK MOTHERSBAUGH (lead vocals, synthesizer innovations) and GERALD CASALE (lead vocal, bass) and rounded out by BOB CASALE (guitarist), BOB MOTHERSBAUGH (guitars/vocals) and JOSH FREESE (drums)–are set make a special U.S. appearance at SXSW this year including a press conference (4:00pm) and keynote panel (5:00pm)–moderated by radio veteran Nic Harcourt–set for Thursday, March 19 at the Austin Convention Center (500 East Cesar Chavez St.).
